WordCamp Tokyo 2023 のすべてのコンテンツが終了しました。
ご参加くださった皆さま、スピーカーとして登壇くださった皆さま、スポンサーとしてご協力いただいた皆さま、そしてオーガナイザー、ボランティアとしてご協力くださった皆さま、本当にありがとうございました。
皆さまのご協力がなければこの WordCamp Tokyo 2023 を開催することはできませんでした。改めて深くお礼申し上げます。
まる4年というブランクと、WordPress リリース20周年という「期間」
イベント中にもなんども出てきましたが、「リアルで開催される WordCamp Tokyo」は2019年以来まる4年ぶりでした。
僕らリードチーム含め手探りの状態から準備を始めて、いまはようやく目指すゴールに到達できたかな、という気持ちでおります。
参加してみていかがだったでしょうか？
一般の参加者、スピーカー、スポンサー、スタッフなどそれぞれの立場から感じること、思うことは様々だと思うのですが、共通するのは「みんな WordPress が大好きだ」ということだったのではないでしょうか。
WordPress の最初のバージョンが公開されてから今年で20年です。20年経てば時代背景も変わりますし使う人も変わります。WordPress というツールも大きく変わってきました。
その20年という時間を踏まえたうえで、これまでの WordPress の成長を感じ、そして新しい展開や技術を知り、これからの自分と WordPress との関わり方を考えることのできる一日であったならば嬉しい限りです。
裏テーマ「Reboot」と「Celebration」
開会式でお話した「Reboot」と「Celebration」ですが、感じていただけたでしょうか。
ウェブサイトや会場内の装飾、そしてセッション内容からみんなで集まって話す雑談まで、きっとすべての根底にこの「Reboot」と「Celebration」があったのではないでしょうか。
普段は直接話せなかったとしても、この機会があったことで、迷っていることの回答が得られたり新しいチャレンジを目指したり、本当に小さなことでも刺激を受けていただけたのであれば、開催できた甲斐があります。
久しぶりの人も初めて会う人も、オンラインでしか会ったことのない人と初めてリアルで会えた人も、どんな人であっても出会ってコミュニケーションを取ることでなにかの化学反応が生まれると思っています。
この「機会」が次に繋がっていく、そのほんの小さなきっかけを提供できたのであれば充分に開催の意義は達成できたかなと思います。
そして次へつながること
今回僕らリードチームの想定以上に海外からの参加者がいました。
日本の WordPress コミュニティの活動が活発なことは海外でも周知の事実です。海外から日本のコミュニティが注目されていることはもっと知られていいことですし、日本のコミュニティから海外へ発信できることもまだまだたくさんあると思っています。
オンラインのイベントにはオンラインの良さがあります。
そしてオフラインにはオフラインの良さがあります。
それぞれのいいところを持ち寄って、この「小さなきっかけ」が継続していけるよう、皆さんにはこれからも続けていただけるようお願いいたします。
今回ご参加いただいて「よかったこと」「できなかったこと」「できそうかなと思ったこと」が皆さんそれぞれにあると思います。
いきなりなんでもできるようにはなりませんし、あれもこれもはできません。一人ひとりは小さなことしかできなくても、みんなでやることで大きなものになります。
それが今回の WordCamp Tokyo 2023だったと思いますし、WordPress のコミュニティだと思っています。
僕たちリードチームも次の一歩を考えています。
「小さな一歩」を踏み出すことがすべてのスタートです。なにかの終わりは必ずなにかの始まりです。
皆さんにも是非「次の始まり」に挑戦いただいて、次の機会にまたお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

All the contents of WordCamp Tokyo 2023 have been finished.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, spoke, sponsored, organized, and volunteered for the event.
Without your cooperation, WordCamp Tokyo 2023 would not have been able to take place. Once again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude.
The blank of 4 years and the 20th anniversary ofWordPress
As mentioned many times during the event, our last in-person WordCamp Tokyo was back in 2019, which is 4 years ago. A lot happened during those times and we fought through those times.
We, including the lead team, started the preparation from zero and now we feel that we have finally reached the goal we were aiming for.
So, we want to ask you: how was the event?
We think there were various feelings, thoughts, and impressions from the standpoint of general participants, speakers, sponsors, and staffs, but I think the common thing was that “everyone loves WordPress”.
It has been 20 years since the first version of WordPress was released to the public. That “20 years” has changed the background of the times, people who use WordPress have changed, and WordPress itself a lot.
We would be happy if you could feel the growth of WordPress over the years, learn about new developments and technologies, and think about the future relationship between WordPress and yourself.
“Reboot” and “Celebration” – Themes behind the scenes
We talked about it at the opening ceremony, but we hope you felt it.
We are sure that “Reboot” and “Celebration” were at the root of everything, from the website, to the decorations, to the content of the sessions, and even to the chats we all had together.
Even if you normally cannot talk directly with others, it was worthwhile to hold this event if you were able to get answers to your doubts, take on new challenges, or be inspired by even the smallest things.
We believe that communicating with people of all kinds, whether they have not met for a long time or for the first time, whether they have only met online or in real life for the first time, will create some kind of chemical reaction.
If we were able to provide even a small chance to lead to the next step, we believe we have achieved our goal of hosting this event.
To the next step
This time, we had more participants from overseas than we expected.
It is a well-known fact that Japanese WordPress community is very active even overseas. We think it’s good to know that Japanese community is attracting attention, and we think there are still many things we can send out from Japanese community.
Online events have their own advantages.
In-person events have their own advantages.
We hope that you will continue to bring the best of both worlds together so that this “small chance” can continue.
We are sure each one of you has takeaways, feedbacks, and regrets from this event.
You cannot suddenly become a superman and do everything wish, and you can’t do everything. Even if each one of you can do only a small thing, it will become a big thing if you do it together.
That’s what WordCamp Tokyo 2023 was all about, and I think that’s what the WordPress community is all about.
We, the lead team, are also thinking about the next step.
Taking a “small step” is the start of everything. The end of something is always the beginning of something.
I hope you will all take on the challenge of “the next beginning,” and I look forward to seeing you again at the next opportunity.
