Thank you for you submissions!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>WordCamp Tokyo 2016 will be held on 17-18 September, 2016.<\/strong> It will be the 9th WordCamp to take place in the Tokyo area (eight in Tokyo, once in Yokohama). As usual, we are planning to host sessions ranging from user to technical, and from beginners to advanced. Also, building on last year\u2019s first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/2015.tokyo.wordcamp.org\/session\/6-3\/\">English session series<\/a>, this year, we are going to have a whole track of English talks with simultaneous interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>We are now accepting submissions for the speakers, both for English and Japanese tracks. Please read on for more details.<\/p>\n<p>All candidates will be informed by mid-July, whether or not their talk is accepted.<\/p>\n<p>To those who are\u00a0considering attending or sponsoring the event:<br \/>\nWe will be posting session details and the timetable on this website when they are ready. In the meantime, we hope the below information\u00a0will help to make your decisions.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8220;Dawn&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>As the world&#8217;s most popular open-source CMS, WordPres has a huge number of users. Types of users vary widely from those who are using WordPress as a journal (blog), a website for their business, or a development tool that excites geeks. Whichever type of user\/developer you are, we believe that the stories you share will inspire others.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Let&#8217;s try Something new.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That is the message we want to get across to the WordCamp Tokyo 2016 attendees. Our goal is offer sessions that can motivate and stimulate them, just like the beam of sunlight in the dawn.<\/p>\n<h2>Description<\/h2>\n<dl>\n<dt>Date<\/dt>\n<dd>Saturday, 17 September 2016<br \/>\n(There will be no session on Sunday the 18th, which is the Contributor Day)<\/dd>\n<dt>Venue<\/dt>\n<dd><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Z8VJuTKmHJx\">Bellesalle Shinjuku Grand<\/a><br \/>\n(Shinjuku, Tokyo)<\/dd>\n<dt>Session Lengths<\/dt>\n<dd>15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 75 minutes<\/dd>\n<dt>Application Deadline<\/dt>\n<dd>Friday, 10 June, 2016, 23:59 JST (UTC+9)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>We will notifiy the result of your application by mid-July.<\/p>\n<h2>Application Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants must meet all the requirements below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have experiences in using WordPress, to develop\/design\/maintain\/plan blogs, websites, services, application, or systems.<\/li>\n<li>You agree what is written in <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1cpG9i6t1DIUtb0nWuwzTr304yHuitVPRsQiPuvf7PEA\/edit\">Agreement among WordCamp Organizers, Speakers, Sponsors, and Volunteers<\/a>, and you pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/community\/handbook\/wordcamp-organizer-handbook\/first-steps\/helpful-documents-and-templates\/100-gpl-vetting-checklist\/\">100% GPL Vetting Checklist<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You agree in allowing us to take and openly share the photographs and video recordings ( and the live streaming if we do)\u00a0of your session. As well as, you agree to openly share your session slides after the event.<\/li>\n<li>You will be punctual in submitting your session details and slides.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What we&#8217;re Looking For<\/h2>\n<p>In WordCamp Tokyo 2016, we are looking for three areas of topics: &#8220;User&#8221;, &#8220;Technical&#8221;, and &#8220;Global&#8221;. Below are descriptions and examples for each topics.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, examples are just examples! Please do not hesitate to submit a talk which you think it will be a great addition to WordCamp Tokyo 2016.<\/p>\n<p>You know someone else who will be a good speaker for WordCamp Tokyo 2016? Please let them know about it \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h3>1. User<\/h3>\n<p>WordPress-related stories from a user&#8217;s point of view. Share your experiences in using WordPress as a blog or a website. Your talk doesn&#8217;t need to be technical. Your stories could be an encouragement for other WordPress users.<\/p>\n<h4>Examples<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>How blogging on WordPress changed my life.<\/li>\n<li>Success stories of e-commerce websites or web services using WordPress.<\/li>\n<li>Utilization of WordPress in NPO or Education fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Technical<\/h3>\n<p>Are you a designer or developer? Why not talk about latest trends, case studies of WordPress site development, use of WordPress in large scale websites, etc. Or a story on how you learn to develop WordPress site.<\/p>\n<h4>Example<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Accessibility<\/li>\n<li>Using JavaScript in\/with WordPress<\/li>\n<li>UX<\/li>\n<li>Use of WP REST API in, for example, developing a smartphone app.<\/li>\n<li>Site structure desining, information architecture, security, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Global<\/h3>\n<p>Do you have any WordPress related stories, which makes you feel you are &#8220;connected&#8221; to the World? Because of the large user share of the WordPress in the World, there are many chances which you can get connected, or to interact, or to get to know each other, beyond your local community. Let&#8217;s hear your unique stories.<\/p>\n<h4>Example<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Experiences in contributing to the WordPress Core, or related make.wordpress.org projects.<\/li>\n<li>Releasing plugins or Themes, and getting responses from around the world&#8211;what is it like?<\/li>\n<li>Are you from outside Japan? What are your local communities like?<\/li>\n<li>Have you been to many WordPress events around the World? What are they like?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Note on the language and tracks:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We are planning to have three tracks &#8211; User, Technical, and Global &#8211; corresponding to each topic.\u00a0The Global track will be conducted in English, and we are working on providing\u00a0simultaneous interpretations from English to Japanese and <em>vice versa<\/em> (if needed).\u00a0On the other hand, The User and Technical track will be conducted in Japanese only, with no interpretations.
